About Us

We are a New Hampshire small business who support other small businesses and their owners.

SR Studios Tech has been a part of the Great North Woods’ tech landscape since the early 1990s. We proudly serve Northern NH, VT, and parts of Maine. We are small town proud and have spent our entire life as they call it ‘Above the Notch’, where small businesses are detrimental to the community, there are no ‘Big Box’ stores like Best Buy, Target, or Costco.

Our journey began in the heydays of HTML, where we honed our skills in programming languages like Basic, Virtual Basic, and C, C+, C++. Beyond our professional services, we’re passionate about retro gaming, having grown up immersed in the world of classic consoles and computer games. Our team’s love for technology extends to tinkering with electronics where curiosity, technology and innovation have always been a part of our DNA.

Our History

Older Commodore PET 4032, Apple IIe and a first edition Apple Macintosh.
  • Founded by Scott Rice in 1990, SR Studios started off as a middle school programming project. Programming and troubleshooting on Apple IIe computers and programming in Basic (which was developed at Dartmouth College in our home state of New Hampshire). Taking apart gaming consoles such as Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Atari. Eventually the technology field finally caught up and it wasn’t long before the Mac was introduced and every home had a personal computer. The internet was still in it’s infancy, so he decided to learn HTML and core programming skills such as C to develop both basic websites as well as front end interfaces for operating systems.

New Technologies

Smart phones and tablets keeping us all connected, for better or worse they are here to stay.
  • Skip ahead to 2000, mobile devices such as tablets, smart phones are starting to come into the scene, C# is introduced by Microsoft. After a decade of ‘tinkering’ with home computers, servers and work center computers; Scott tries his hand on the mobile device market. Troubleshooting, screen replacements, battery replacements and application designs using C#, Java and a handful of other languages.

A New Era

Voice recognition AI powered through Google and Amazon has changed the way we operate our homes and live our everyday lives.

Staying Connected

  • 2016 arrives and “smart home” devices like Alexa (she who should not be named), Apple’s Homekit, Samsung’s SmartThings and Google Home start flooding the market. The Internet has now given birth to IoT (Internet of Things) and everything is easily accessible utilizing your voice. Making a To-Do list, checking the latest sports scores, asking about the forecast, or getting recipes. Yet another field for Scott to explore in his endeavors. At this point he’s been working for Microsoft for the past 4 years as a tier 3 technician for their Xbox One consoles.

With the introduction of new technology and wireless protocols, smart homes and IoT and the future of technology for both residential as well as commercial and industrial applications.
  • Here we are at 2022, smart homes have evolved in a way that Alexa or any outside cloud services are not required for a smart home. With new wireless technologies like Zigbee and Z- Wave, the smart home can be automated with your data never leaving your home. Technology has quintupled in it’s advancement since the start of it all. Still going strong since the beginning and a service that you can count on, we’re here to help and happy to do so. You could kinda say it’s in our DNA.
